Tips for video blogging: how to create a successful video blog?
Have you found your calling, visited a new scenic spot, witnessed a compelling story, and want to share your discoveries with others? You may have all the essential ingredients for a compelling story, but that’s only 50 percent of success. Do you know what equipment to choose and how to shoot your video to meet the high quality standards and rigorous demands of a demanding audience?
In this video blogging guide, we provide seven tips for aspiring videobloggers and experienced users who want to improve the quality of their videos.
When choosing equipment, balance camera and sensor size
A camera with a larger sensor provides better image quality, but when shooting videos for videoblogging, it is important to balance the size of the sensor and camera.
Having both a compact and a full-size camera in your arsenal will allow you to choose the best equipment depending on the purpose of shooting, as well as experiment with angles when creating videos.
Use a wide angle lens
Many video bloggers use a wide angle lens because it’s perfect for confined spaces like a bedroom or kitchen and allows you to get most of what you’re shooting. A 24mm lens will work great for this purpose, but an ultra wide angle lens will do it even better.
Determine resolution and frame rate
The demand for video continues to grow, and so do expectations for quality. Original content loses its importance if the image lacks detail. Choose cameras with Full HD or 4K Full HD is a great resolution standard, but 4K will provide even more detail, allowing you to crop and stabilize your video without sacrificing quality. Shooting in 4K doesn’t mean you have to publish your video in that format. Remember, however, that 4K video takes longer to edit and upload.
Create smooth videos with precise focus
The content of a video blog should be captivating and take the viewers on a journey together with you, whether it’s a walk through the cobblestone streets of the city or unpacking recently purchased products.
And in this case, quality footage in motion plays a key role. The video should be smooth, with no jerking motion, so the viewer can focus on the beautiful nature or an interesting story.
To avoid camera shake, use the palm of your hand to secure the camera from below and hold it at the side. To further secure the camera, use the special holder that attaches to the body – it’s a useful and convenient accessory to hold the device by.
